Medium: Encaustic

Workshop Title: Silkscreen onto Encaustic

Investigate and explore various approaches to combining screen printing and encaustic, using line and halftone imagery. Use inks, pigment sticks, and tinted gesso to print into/onto encaustic surfaces. With these new techniques, you will be encouraged to focus on achieving your individual, aesthetic goals. All equipment will be provided for each student. Designed for students who have encaustic experience, although screen printing experience is not necessary.

Jeffery Hirst 

Jeffrey Hirst has a thirty-year working knowledge of printmaking processes, including screen printing. He has taught encaustic and printmaking workshops at universities and arts centers around the United States. Jeffrey’s work has been showcased in galleries around the US and in Europe, and pieces are held in many public and private collections. He owns Hirst Printmaking, a fine arts printing facility in Chicago that specializes in intaglio, screen printing, and experimental print approaches, as well as publishing works for artists.
