Medium: Sculptural Textiles
Workshop Title: The Architecture of Sculptural Textiles
Develop the architectural underpinnings necessary for inventive sculptural basketry through traditional and non-traditional weaving processes such as twining, plaiting, random weaving, and lashing. Explore the potential that techniques, materials and form, in combination with layers, collage and mixed media techniques contribute to the ideas and meaning in your work.
Some experience preferred.

About The Instructor
Jo Stealey
Jo Stealey (she/her) has spent her life as an artist, educator, and curator. Her practice encompasses two and three-dimensional textiles, basketry, and handmade paper. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and many private and public collections She is a professor emerita, former chair of the Department of Art and founding Director for the School of Visual Studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
